Put the tape on a card

This part happens in the Yoto app. It takes about a minute, and you only do it once per card.

What you need

  • A Make Your Own card — the blank ones Yoto sells.
  • The Yoto app, signed in to the account the player is on.
  1. 1
Open the Yoto app and find your tape in your library. It has the name you gave it.
  2. 2
Tap the three dot menu in the top right corner, then choose Link to a card.
  3. 3
Hold the blank card against your phone when it asks. That's it — the card now plays the tape.

Two things worth knowing

A card holds one thing at a time.

Linking this tape to a card that already plays something else replaces what it played. The audio itself isn't deleted — it stays in your library.

The card doesn't hold the audio.

It's a key, not a container. That's why new messages can appear on a card that's been sitting in a drawer — and why you can relink it as often as you like.

A card already in the player won't notice new messages. The player reads the card when it goes in. Take it out, wait a moment, and put it back.
